Rachel Tsutsumi began her career as an editor of illustrated art books. After her work in publishing, she independently produced, directed, and shot the documentary Far From Home, a film about two years in the life of an African-American teenage girl in Boston who participates in a voluntary school busing program. The film won CNN/HBO's "Life Through Your Lens" grant award and aired on CNN in 2005. While making her film, she also produced educational videos for Teachscape, a web-based company that works with public schools around the country. Rachel grew up in the Boston area and is a graduate of Yale University. She currently works as a freelance producer and independent filmmaker in New York City.
Andy Graydon is a filmmaker and editor based in New York City. In addition to Far From Home, his editorial credits include episodes of Women Docs for the Lifetime Network, documentary television for the Biography Channel and TV Land, and the feature film Life Sentence. His own films and media art have been screened and exhibited internationally and at many New York venues, including Tonic, Participant Inc gallery, White Box, The Lehman College gallery, and Galeria Galou.
Far From Home was the winner of "Life Through Your Lens" Documentary Grant Competition 2003. The grant was sponsored by Time Warner Inc., CNN, HBO, and Harvard University's Department of Afro-American Studies.
